Event detail:

As digital trade grows, countries are facing pressure to update their online consumer protection policies and ensure safe and reliable transactions. A webinar hosted by IISD addressed the importance of digital consumer protection in fostering a trusted environment for e-commerce. Emerging approaches, including regional trade agreements and the WTO's Joint Initiative on E-Commerce, were discussed, as well as the challenges faced by developing countries in modernizing their regulatory frameworks. This session, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), was the first in a technical series aimed especially at trade policymakers in developing countries.
